Rubbing Compound + Meguiars Polish + Orbital

I don't remember what the site was, but a while ago I saw some detailing videos online and in one of them, they used polish and added a little RC to it. I would like to try this myself. Has anyone tried this? Good results?

P.S. The videos were from a site with it's own line of detailing products. They were very informative. I wish i could find the link...

I've never tried it, but some rubbing compounds can be pretty abrasive. Try it by hand first somewhere that's not gonna show too much.

If you go at it with the orbital without testing, you may do some significant damage.

adding rubbing compound to polish is the most retarded thing ever. RC is more abrasive than polish therefore you cancell out the polish. wash, clay, wash,RC, Polish, seal, wax (carnuba)

That's pretty abrasive stuff. I have some. I would NOT use it at all. On the container it says "Recommended for rubbing down between coats of newely sprayed lacquer and acrylic car finishes. Containes powerful abrasives which may remove paint if rubbed too forcefully."

They also make a polishing compound that is not as abrasive but I wouldn't use that on my Max either. I did use it years ago on an old brown Mercedes that I used to have. No clear coat, and while it made the finish look good, the cloths I used got very brown. It removed a lot of paint.

Man, Blues is correct. That stuff is VERY aggressive. I have 3M light cut RC and love using it.

Polishes, waxes, rubbing compounds all have different purposes, mixing them is not a smart move. They all work in a step down process.

3m perfect it II is the only compound that I use without fear. It is a great product- deepens the color. I used it this spring for my de winterization detail with my PC. Amazing. I dont think I will use again for a year or two though. I dont want to get TOO crazy with it.
