when is the clay bar done?
I was claying the hood of my max, sprayed the lubricant thing, wiped the clay bar over it, and the clay bar was sliding really easily, so i folded the bar, and moved onto the next section of the car.
I then polished the car, and waxed it. Then I noticed the car was still bumpy. I was afraid that I had used too agressive of a polish, but decided to test the simplest thing.... re-claying a rough area. the bar got dirty again, the surface got smoother, I was definitely pulling more junk out of the paint. (does this mean my wax needs to be thicker?)
so, my question is, how do I know if I'm done claying an area? when it's wet with lubricant, it seems smooth with the clay bar? am I supposed to run my fingers over the paint to check for done-ness before moving on to the next section?
hope someone can edjumacate this

With experience you'll be able to tell when the clay bar had cleaned and area. Until then you can check by gently running your fingers over the area that has been clayed and dried. It should feel very, very smooth. If not, use the clay and lubricant again.
Usually, if the bar slides effortlessly across the finish with lube on it, that means the clay bar has done its job. When you are claying, you hear a sound similar to filing your nails if there is still contamination on your finish.
