Not sure if mentioned but on average how long does it usually take a person to claybar his/her car. I going to do it once a have a free day but im just worrying about how much time it will take to do my car.

 

Claybarring won't remove scratches (assuming you mean in the paint) and won't do much for swirls.
polish, buff, wax for solution

Just to clarify for the clay-bar virgins. Claying is NOT going to make your car look any better. If there are imperfections in the paint large enough to see, then you either need to wash it better or polish after you've cleaned the paint. The only exception would if you were trying to remove some sap, road-tar or bug-jizz.

 

I clayed my front bumper and hood the other day and it made a big difference. After using a lot of bug remover on the bumper, the claybar seemed to take most of the rest of the bug guts off. As far as making the paint feel very smooth, it definitely does the job...my paint feels like glass now. I'm happy with the results.

 

I bought the Clay Magic box back in april and used it once to clay my '01. I have a little more than half of the clay left (in a plastic bag with some of the spray to keep it moist). I'm getting ready to clay my car again this weekend, and am unsure if I have enough of the spray to cover the whole car. Would I have to buy another whole kit, do they sell just the spray, or can I use some sort of substitute from around the house? Any help would be appreciated.

 

you should be able to buy the spray. I know the Mother's kit I bought just used 'instant detailer' in a spray bottle.

It's just so the clay doesn't scratch and it glides to leave the clear smooth, so some equivalent of that should work.

Any detailing spray will do. Its really just to lubricate the clay as it moves over the paint. It will also prevent the clay from marring the paint.

do you dry the car before you clay it?, or can you just spray the instant detailer on the already wet car?
