Ok, Im going to get the oil change tomorrow evening and I had a few questions first.
What viscosity rating means what? do I want 10W-40, 20W-50, ??? Im clueless in this area.
I was gonna pick up some Mobil 1 made for performance; where can I pick up the oil cheapest: Target, Pep Boys, ???

For VQ35DE Engines:


K-Mart has Mobil 1 SuperSyn 5W/30 on sale for $3.99/quart this week. That's pretty much the most lab proven off the shelf synthetic and best choice for your needs.


For oil filters, choose one of the following:

Mobil 1 M1-105
Nissan OEM 15208-9E000
STP S6941


Do not under any circumstances use the 15208-65F00 OEM filter dealers try to push on VQ35 Maximas. It is a poorly constructed oil filter.

Also, there is no need for a xW/40 or xW/50 oil when using a synthetic. It is too "heavy" of an oil for a US-spec engine.
