I am confused (and I know I am not the only one) about the Mobil 1 Gear Oil. In the FAQ it states to use only GL-4 but the Mobil 1 states that it is API GL-5. If this is the case then why is the Mobil 1 also listed under the recommended gear oils to use? Please if anyone can answer this I would greatly appreciate it.

 

Nevermind. I just read the Mobil site in detail and read this information.

"Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant LS 75W-90 can also be used in rear axles where API Service GL-4 lubricant is recommended"
