Changed MT90 after 19,250 miles.

Could all be in my head, but I'd recommend changing MT90 out every 10-15K at least for HOT climates like mine. Seems much smoother, less clunky/notchy, and easier to engage gears.

Like I said, it could all be in my head, but I pretty much noticed the difference immediately.

I put some in my 00 at 59k and I'm at 71k now. I have to be honest and tell you that I have no plans of even thinking of changing it for at least another 40k. The damn stuff is freaking expensive!

I have at least 40K miles on my MT90... starting to feel a little notchy in some gears, especially going into 1st sometimes. I should change it soon.

I'll be going on a road trip up into the mountains this weekend, so I'll really get a chance to row through the gears. However, I've been downshifting a lot to see if it's in my head and so far everything has been smoother then normal. Just sitting at the light going through the gate seems easier and less clunky except 3rd which is fuked from 5th-to-3rd hwy downshifts.

MT90 may be fine for 40K or longer, however I think it definitely thickens up or loses some of its friction modifiers or something by 15K+. At least mine does in this heat.

The difference so far is definitely worth it to me for the $35/1-1.5yrs., but I wonder how long it lasts.

Damn, guys! As I mentioned in my other thread, Nissan doesn't even have a recommended change interval on the gear oil that comes from the factory (the manual says no word of changing it, and of the four dealerships I called, three said not to bother, and one said 30k, but they are a shifty stealership).

FSM says every 30k miles or 24 months in NORMAL conditions. That's for both auto and 5spd.

I had OEM fluid changed and analyzed with only 15,000 and it did NOT test very well.

I'd change it more often with non-synthetic.

I agree with you Icey. The 6 speeds seem to be even worse. The newness of the oil seems to wear off in only a few thousand miles.

I'd say that's probably due to the 6spds 2.5qt capacity vs. the 5spds 4.5qt capacity.

I think I'm going to try Amsoils' MT fluid next and see how long its friction modifiers last.

Did you have this sample analyzed as well? It would be interesting to compare.

I need to change my tranny oil in my 04 6 speed. Only problem is I dunno how to do it, or how much MT90 I need to order. Ive got 35,000 miles on my 6th gen and put all that on in less than a year. My trans is starting to feel really notchy and when Im in 1st gear I hear a gurgling fluid noise until I shift. Is this the trans doing that? Any help would be appreciated. thanks

The 6 speed only requires about 2.5 quarts.

There is a fill plug and a drain plug on the transmission. Simply drain out the old oil and refill with new oil upto the fill hole.

No, I was planning on it, but got rushed and did an oil change and MT90 change the day before leaving town and I spaced it. Hopefully, I'll get this sample and then I'm going with Amsoil.

I wouldn't mind throwing in something thicker sacrificing a bit of horsepower just so it doesn't get notchy and can handle the abuse.
