After my sucess with Seafoam in my Maxima, I poured the other half of can of Seafoam in my friend's 1997 Camry with the 4 cylinder engine. Halfway through the can, the check engine light came on and it stayed on even after we restarted the engine...

Anyone have any experience with this sort of thing?

Either have AutoZone check the code & reset the CEL or just unplug the battery overnight

I think seafoam helps to remove carbon, which comes out in exhaust gases, and deposits on the O2 senors.

Just drive the **** out of it for a 20 minutes.

 

I poured it into the brake booster vacuum line. I did it in the exact same place in my Maxima...

Why did you pour it in? You are supposed to let the engine vacuum suck it up. I hope you didn't damage the engine by hydrolocking it or anything.

 

Why did you say hydrolock? His car is still functioning properly per his post.

 

I don't believe you're supposed to let the vacuum line SUCK the seafoam in. I unplugged the vacuum line, held it vertical and poured in into the hose. Don't tell me you guys just dumped the hose into the can and let it start sucking!

I poured it in instead of sucking it up because of all the posts that said to slowly pour the seafoam in or the engine would be hydrolocked. And it can't be hydrlocked since the engine's running.

 

No, I slowly dipped the vacuum hose into a plastic cup I filled with Seafoam to regulate how much got sucked into the engine. When you said "poured" I assumed you poured the whole can into the line before you started the engine. Believe me, there have been people on here who have done worse things while trying to use this product.

 

its most likely the ecu. o2 sensor is sending wrong thing to ecu. take off the battery overnight and hook it up again. should be fine
