I've already began construction of my backyard refinery. Should be complete in about six days. Send me a barrel and I'll give you one tank of free 92 octane as soon as its ready for use.

I just bought some gas @ Cdn$1.034 per litre, a drop of 10 cents from earlier today.
That was 90 octane being marketed by Husky Oil at 87 octane prices. So at current exchange rates, that works out to US$3.30 per US gallon. At Chevron, across the street, 92 octane would have worked out to US$3.72 per US gallon. Consequently, gas prices here are narrowing the gap between that of the US. This is a function of the strongest Canadian dollar in quite some time and the fact that we will not likely face a gas shortage.

Don't hold your breath for gas prices to drop dramatically anytime soon!

Fortunately, I already have the motorcycle that I can drove part of the time. The problem comes from shuttling two kids.

It's $3.56USD a gallon here in Calgary Alberta. Like wb, I drive a motorcycle to work every day. It costs me $9 a week in gas. Thank god our Maximas gets 25-30mpg (driving normally mind you).

i'm sick of these foking threads.... People in the US make 10 times more than people do where I live. We pay roughly $5.75/gallon & I don't see everyone flipping out. . . The US has almost the cheapest gas in the world compared to what you guys make. . . STF & stop f'ing crying already about the gas prices. If I was paying $3.50/gallon I'd be happy. there's gotta be 50 threads about gas on this forum. .

yea well if you look back less than a year we were paying around 2.25.. it's now rising to 4$ and over (some places i believe in texas or tennesse it was 5 or 6$ already). And being that this is a maxima forum i figured we could all relate... this is not the time to have a bad KS hehe..

my friends just finished building a 5.7 liter 1981 trans am.. who the f*ck in their right mind is going to buy that at this time?

point is we better start buying barrels together, or i'd like to see topics on this forum like "new 4th gen hybrid mod".

Sure we shouldn't be *****ing... but we're americans.. and change is bad! we won't die from this price increase.. at least not yet... but we'll definitly be losing at least a couple hundred dollars a year ... and that my friend.. deserves to be *****ed about ;-)

The reason that gas is so expensive in Europe and elsewhere is because of taxes and environmental regulations. You also have to realize that in most of the US, you must have a car. Stupid zoning laws make the fricken supermarket 5-10 miles away and your work probably at least 20.

The mass transit system is a joke in most places. It would take me 3-3.5 hours to get to work and another 3-3.5 hours to get back home. No way am I going to work 10 hours a day and spend another 6-7 hours on the fricken bus when I can drive there in 40min.

Well, with the an average salary here, a person must work 4 full days to fill up a maxima. So if you drive where you burn a tank of gas a week, it's not worth working. Imagine if you had to work 4 days to fill up your maxima - THEN you would be complaining. Trust me - you guys are lucky to have these prices.

Your comments here are flamebait since most of the people on the org are in the US. How would you like it if your rent/mortgage or the amount you pay for food doubles in the space of a year or two? Anytime such a heavily used and essential commodity doubles in price in a couple of years, it's going to hurt.

We're unlucky to have these prices. The economy in the US has a lot of bubbles right now-the housing bubble, credit bubble, oil bubble. Oil should be at $20-$30/bbl like it has for the last 50 years when adjusting for inflation. Therefore, prices should be around $1.25/gal. Prices of all commodities tend to return to their historical averages.

We are NOT running out of oil, we are running into it. We're finding more oil than we are consuming. Just look at the known reserves of oil, it keeps going up every year. New technologies make more oil physically and economically recoverable.

The states of UT, CO, and WY have more oil reserves in the form of oil shale/tar sands than Saudi Arabia has. Alberta Canada has more oil in the form of shale/tar sands than the whole rest of the world has in traditional petroleum.

In addition, you can make oil out of garbage, waste, tires, or sewage. Do a google search for "anything into oil."

I do not live in the US.. (in canada.. yes one of the oil exporters) and I agree with all the US folks out here... we do pay a lot less than anywhere else (except middle east .. costs abt. 25cents CAD for 98 octane there) but in this country gas is supposed to be cheap!!! if not ... all other sales go down... people stop spending > US imports less> trade surplus of other countries goes down> other countries now export less> World economy is down > and the "R" word is now in!!

Who's laughing now?

If your gas prices went from $5.75 to $7.00/$7.50 I'd bet you would be complaining about on here.....

Yes our gas is cheap compared to yours....But a year ago our prices were alot cheaper then now.....Hence...the complaining...
