Oil Level Questions

I have been using Mobil 1 one filters and extended performance mobil 1 oil(5w-30)

I just changed my oil (5k) and before i changed it i could not get a correct reading from the dip stick. It was pretty much saying that i didnt have any oil however when i drained the oil the amount was about what i put in when i changed it last time( 4 and 3/4 quarts) anyone have any ideas?

I too have trouble reading the dip-stick in my 04 Max. The system I use is to check the level in the morning after the engine has been off for a number of hours. Even then, I need to wipe the dip-stick to get a more accurate reading. Must be the way the VQ engine's dip stick goes into the oil.
