thought it would be ok to drive with a broken stud then today all of a sudden , pop In the middle of a busy intersection no wheel and a jacked up fender.A word to the wise there are 5 studs for a reason. So if you lose one for in any way replace it ASAP I have a 90 so I will likey find a fender with no prob but I was lucky ,cause when the wheel came off I had no control ,if I had of been going fast I dont think I would be at home tonight.

Not the Max, but on a former car I drove with 2 of 5 lug nuts tightened on each wheel. Because I was going to put on my other rims (snow tires) and I didn't feel like tightening all 20 nuts, so I did only 8.
Sounds like you had a defective stud that you knew about?? I'm kinda wondering for what reason a stud would need replacement, it should last the life of the car and then as long as the scrap metal sits in the junkyard after that, for a total of 50+ years?
