Experiments with Apex-i RSM

Well, tonight I was just feelin like taking a drive around Irvine to think about stuff and I decided to play with the RSM. I went to an empty very straight street and did some 1/4 mile times. I ranged from 15.47 to 16.something. I did automagic manual shifting and just letting the tranny shift itself. To my surprise, letting the tranny shift is faster by a second. the 16 second times were with manual shifting. Then I decided to hit the O/D button to see what happens.
Okay, When the O/D light is on, does that mean O/D is off or O/D is on??? It may be a stupid question but Im baffled by this. Anyways, the O/D light was on and I did the 1/4 on the same road and I got high 15's and when the light was off i got the mid 15's. Now I think im just gonna let the tranny run on its own cause its faster. Any opinions or Ideas on this???

Leaving the car in drive is ok, but it shifts before the end of redline (~6200 or so). Manually shifting lets you shift higher, but you really only want to do this if you are boosted or have a VI because NA Maximas start losing power in the very top end.

When the O/D light is on O/D is On which means your car will not shift into 4th. I don't believe it changes shift points at all.

Well, When I floor it, it goes all the way to redline so I dont floor it. I try to push the gas down so it shifts at 5000-5500 rpm. But when the O/D light is on, Third gear is weaker than when the OD light is off. Is this normal? Maybe my car is just weird. Engine has 130K and still running strong!

Thanks for the info. Now I'm more educated since I don't drive an auto.
