Jet Dragster!

I saw the coolest thing last night at the track, a jet powered dragster! One of those long skinny type cars with a jet engine on the back!! He ran a 8.87 @ 178 mph! I need one of those for my maxima!

Thats actually not all that fast for something that is JET powered... i mean last night theres a late 60's camaro that runs alcohol and he's in the 8s @ 170s MPH. Infact I raced him once and I was owned.

The fastest cars I've seen at a drag in person was a alcohol funny car that runs high 4s at over 200 mph, it was insane.

Actually I don't think thats too bad for a jet. You got to consider jet engines have to wind up, and they dont have trannys, they get one gear: GO. A jet engine will do most of the work in the top end. That, plus this isn't the most powerfull engine around, this is a car your straping it to, you don't want to run the quarter straight up now do you.

To go high 4s, the car would need to be going about 290 at the end of the strip. 200 mph traps put a car in the 7s or high 6s.

woudln't a person get concusion from going that fast? even if his head is securely planted on the seat back? wouldn't the brain get smooshed on the back of the person's skull?

I've heard stories that Top Fuel and Nitro Funny drivers have no vision for the first 200 or so feet of a run, and again right when the parachutes deploy. I don't know if this is a fact or not, but it would not surprise me. A top fuel/ nitro funny car does 0-100 in a little less than a second.

You guys wanna see video of one?
i got it from when i was out at the track
2 Jet dragsters going head to head.
Nothing like watching a jet run and feeling the concussion on your chest when they pulse to the line
then watch them run a 6 second run @ 248MPH

if some1 wants to host the 2 videos i got i'll send them to you.
