More Hp Disconnecting Maf?

I disconnected my mass air flow sensor after having an injen put on and notice my car seems to pull harder. Is this possible?Any negative effects of it?

You might try disconnecting those pesky O2 sensors, too.

Yes, your ECU has no idea how much air is going in.

The ecu reverts to a limp home mode when there is a maf problem. I think it adjusts afr based on throttle position and maybe O2 sensor information, too, but it also is supposed to limit rpm to 2500 rpm or something like that. The fact that his car feels more powerful now makes me wonder about the state of tune it was in before.

It is the little plug that goes into the side of the intake tube. I think it is the mass air flow sensor. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. I am looking forward to going to the track to see the difference.

Disconnect your fuel pump and it should be able to attain warp speed.

he meant air temp sensor...might hurt gas mileage...i think car needs to know amount of gas coming in so it can give u proper combustion blah blah blah and what not

Ok, so tell me how the intake temp sense tells the ECU how much fuel is being delivered.

Maybe the ECU has a right brain and a left brain. Neither know what the other is doing unless they monitor.

in his statement, gas= air, not gasoline.
the IAT measures the temp of the air, so the engine can slightly adjust the fuel mix for best operation.

I highly doubt he was using the term gas to mean oxygen. But if he was then it would have made sense.

Regardless, the FSM states that the intake air temp sensor is not used to adjust the afr during closed loop operation. It is used as a diagnostic for comparison with other sensors. I forget the precise wording of the FSM.
