In a world full of highly paid, selfish, and overly cocky athletes, Dale Earnhardt stood in a select few! In my book he is in the company of Tiger Woods, Muhommad Ali, Michael Jordon, and Walter Payton. These are athletes who deserve to be are childrens hero's, they have earned the respect of those who have watched them do what they love, and sometimes pay the ultimate price when doing what they love. Athletes such as Dale Earnhardt should be respected and loved, they keep there perspective sports from becoming what several professional sports have become today. They stay out of jail, they don't beat there spouses, and they don't make the cover of the local newspaper for getting busted for drugs. Dale Earnhardt was killed doing what he loved! and I would hope that if he could choose a way to die that it would be like yesterday, Last lap of a major race, his son in front of him carrying on the tradition and pride of the Earnhardt name, one of his best friends going on to win the race, and him strapped in a race car going all out!!! Even though it is a sad time for all who love racing and Dale Earnhardt, let's all give our best wishes to his family and all of those who loved him. The next time you step on the go pedal of you Maxima give a quick thought to a man who gave his all and paid the ultimate price, and when you see a #3 sticker or flag on a car today give a quick honk of the horn and wave a three fingered wave to the driver and keep the legend alive!!!!

It's so sad. I've met him and his family twice because he is a good friend of my friend's dad, who owns a car dealership in Delaware.
