More on PIAA SuperWhite H3....

well, I said before they are bright... even at $25 a pop, I would recommend them because they are that bright, even at 55watts. Well to give you an idea of how bright they are... I've got a crack on my driver side fogs... I've had the stock bulbs in there... didn't notice that the cracked caused any problems. I've got one PIAA SW H3 at home so I decided to go get another one... well I put them in. When I turned them on, I thought something was wrong with the driver side bulb. so I switched to, checked again, the driver side is just dim. Looking *at* the fogs looks ok, but looking at the cast light, there was something wrong... so I took the lamp off, played with it for a while... realized finally that it was the crack that was screwing up the beam. Funny thing is, this was NEVER a problem with the old one. no the filament is in the same place, PIAA vs OEM. so my conclusion is that the PIAAs output made the distorsion much more apparant...
so in conclusion, until I try other H3s, get the PIAAs for your fogs.

Dan, you have a 3rd gen right? I think it'll be fine with the glass...
as for H3 phlips... no store... but you can get it on line at http://www.autooptiks.com/front.htm.
BTW, there's another reason why doing true HID retro fit is not good on 97-99 Maximas... Plastic degrades fast under UV blasts... it turns yellow and such... with HID you are blasting it with a bit of UV, more so than OEM bulb....

I've got the 85w PIAA Superwhite fogs. I would have to agree that they are super bright. I've got the same problem with the cracked lens but mine is on the passenger side. I would definitely recommend these. I think I will try the 55w next though just to see the difference.

what kind of bulb are people using
I'm seeing more and more old cars (early '90's) with lights that are clearly very white and not brownish like the factory ones. You could almost mistake them for HID, and since they are not necessarily on newer cars I figure they're not that expensive. Any idea what people are using these days? Seems like they're no longer bluish like the old fake HID's.

DanNY, don't get the 85w PIAA SW!!! I got them put in and had both foglights crack all the way through. WAY TO HOT for the glass cover.

Wow .. sucks. Someone posted the opposite -- saying if you had plastic don't get 85W, but if you had glass it was OK. I'm trying to figure out what to do for my fogs.. I have YellowStars now (55w) -- but was debating going to 85w.

i dont knoo what you guys are talking about. I have Piaa 85watt h3's in the stock 96 glass fogs sincei have owned the car and not a single problem yet!!! Well i did re-wire them with thicker wiring, so that might have helped a bit.

Anybody got crack?
Has anyone had their fogs on a 4th-gen crack using the 55w PIAA bulbs? I drive through a lot of crap up here in the northeast and would like some better light, but I dont do crack! This maybe a dumb question, but I dont need new wires if I go with the 55w bulbs right?

I know that urethanes and certain polymers that form epoxy adhesives are subject to yellowing when exposed to UV...but are you sure about the acrylics used for headlamp lenses? The reason I say this is, that most cars with OE HID...have the clear acrylic lenses.

I've posted this numerous times already:

HUGE difference (those are 55 watt in the passenger side of my Z).
First mods I recommend to new owners: brake pads & PIAA fog lights
