anyone heard of an autodimming side mirror?

I am thinking about getting an autodimming rearview mirror and I was thinking to myself how much I hate having a driver behind me at night because their lights are reflected right into the side mirror.....I was hoping someone might have heard of an auto dimming side mirror similar to the rearview mirror? I think it would be great to have one, and its even more necessary in a side mirror than a center mirror, because at least the center can be changed manually! You cant manually move the side mirror to both deflect light and see the road as you can with the rearview mirror....please tell me these exist somewhere!

Do they dim when someone is behind, or for backing-up?

The only one that I have used is on my brother's SL600. It has a greenish tinge to it in daylight. At night it dims according to the intensity of the approaching headlamps. That is how the inside mirror works on my Maxima too.

sweet! I knew they were used by someone! Now, I wonder where I can get a pair and if they will fit my I30? Has anyone else retrofitted side mirrors from another car? I wouldnt think there would be much difference between side mirror mountings....especially from other japanese cars!

I'm retrofitting Skyline mirrors to my 3rd gen, but I don't see why you can't at least apply some similar principals to your I30 from, say, a Lexus. But I think it's gonna be pretty $$$$$

Saab has these also. Frank Fontaine, why would you want them to dim for reverse. They undim when the car is in reverse. Hence, auto dimming.
