Russ-
Did you see the mods that the guy had on his VR6? His VR6 should be running deep into the 14s. Did you also miss the fact that the race was from a roll? Nearly everyone knows a AWD isn't nearly as effective from a roll as they are from a launch. If they would have run from a stop, that VR6 would have been completely toast. I consider a WRX hanging with a VR6 with a chip, cams, catback, and no cat pretty damn good. A stock WRX would be lucky to hang with a modded 4th gen 5 speed from a roll. SCC already tested the WRX and got a 14.6@91mph out of. Seeing that they can't seem to get decent times out of their cars, I'm pretty sure you'll see quite a few WRX cranking 14.0s on a cold night. After mods, the performance is unlimited.

"Well a friend ofmine got a new Subaru WRX yesterday. SO today we meet at a pizza place "
so the wrx has 100miles and hes racing it already? I think he is lying no one will race a new car second day of ownership unless they drove like 2000miles first day

From a roll, the AWD is a serious liability. The reported in gear times for the WRX havent been all that impressive.

because i have heard roadkills regarding some AWD Audi A6 2.7T killed 540 from rolling
the vr6 is pretty quick. maybe .3 ticks behind the wrx with equal driver.
considering the vdub could be modified and the wrx wasn't properly broken-in these people hopefully enjoyed their pizza b/c the race was internet jibberish.

I would have to agree with MaddMax. The WRX is the 2002 version. These are not sold in the US yet. There was a demo of the US Spec version of the WRX with 227 HP at 6,000 RPM with 217 lb-ft at 4,000 RPM. This is the US Spec version. It comes turbocharged and intercooled with 14.5 psi of boost. Subaru has made a "World Rally Car" version of this car and it came out with 300 HP at 5,600 RPM. Maybe if they did a little mod to the WRX like they did the VR6, the WRX would of spanked his VR6. HOwever, you guys are right with the rolling start. AWD is at a disadvantage.

Wrong buddy. They have them at our dealer here and have had them here for about 2-3 weeks now.

Ask the boys at Etown about that Platinum GS400 that was racing with 300 miles on it

not a truly fair race...
I know the guy, via the bbs, who was in the WRX. The thing is...the VR6 is highly modded, and the WRX is 1 day old, not even broken in yet. I don't know why ProgSi would want to race like that, but it's his car. I would say give him 1000 miles and they race again.
