from what I understand this is fairly straight forward, but you have to use all the VQ30's top end. I.E. heads, intake, etc. and jus the VQ35 block. I am sure there is a bit more to it than that, but it has been done with a 5 speed, so there is no reason that an auto would not bolt up.

the VQ30 and the VQ35 block have the same bolt pattern. I mated a VQ30 engine to a 350z tranny (350z has a VQ35)

Its a project car. Obviously a special intention is in mind.

Not sure how much different the Altima VQ35 5spd is then our 4th or 5th gen 5spd, but you could always got that route since it apparently bolts up.

Speaking of VQ35 with 5spd, if you're serious about doing the *COMPLETE* swap here's everything(engine, accessories, trans, ECU, wiring harness, axles, mounts, etc.) you need from a '02 Altima w/33,527 miles for $3K+freight:

Whoooah!

I like...but you'd better boost that bish. Gearing is going to suck with the VQ-K engine power, especially if thats an autocross car.

Can you keep me posted on your progress?

Run the tranny into a transfer case, jack that ***** up and put some supper swampers on it and don't worry about a driveline tunnel.

The gearing will be a little low. I may have to swap out the rear gear to have a lower RPM for cruising. I really don't drive much on the freeway so I'm not too worried about it.

Boost?....Yah I might. My daily driver rx only has 146 HP and the VQ30de-k has 222HP stock and I won't be running cats and will have very free flowing exhaust. I'll wait and see what it is like first.

here is another pic. I am actually farther than it shows. I just haven't uploaded any new pics. I just need a couple more hours and I can see if the engine will start. quite a bit more time before she drives though.

In that light of a car, it's going to have A LOT more pep.

On my 5spd, it spins high RPM on the hwy stock, but with the 6spd OD, I doubt you'll have an issue on the freeway, especially since that engine has such a short stroke/slow piston speed, it's meant to spin.

Just wondering if the 6spd 1-2-3-4 gearing is going to be real short for the VQ30 torque band, since we don't have near the torque that the 350Z had. Again, the super light weight, may more then make up for it....I don't know.

Any plans to dyno or 1/4-mile it?

Yes the intake is one big pain. I hadn't thought about the fact the intake is plastic before I started. I had planed to cut it and reweld it so it would open to the front of the car. I am still up in the air about it right now. I want to wait until I test run the engine before I start cutting up the intake.

I just have a few wires to connect then do some testing before fipping the switch to see if it will fire. It's been real cold here and so the project has been on hold.

I think it will be a cool car when done. I like how my rx-7 drives but I wanted the Nissan reliability.
