i bought a used 96 max...and after a lot of observing i've relealized that the frame and body (doors especially) don't seem to be too strong and solid. i compared the feel of closing the door to a 97 camry le...and there was a big difference. it seems like the maxima could fall apart in any minute.
now my question...is there a way to kind of "fill" in the doors with some kind of material that would make them feel more solid? by solid i mean when i shut the door, it'll be a clean, sound shut...rather than a shut with a few rattles. thanks.

Me too
I think the max is just built that way. I hate it. My max creeks, and the suspension is so weak. Feels flimsy. Its really horrible. Ive driven my sis's accord coupe and its so solid compared w/ max. The suspension has a solid body to hold onto so it feels more predictable and responsive.
I dont know how to mod the max to make it more "sporty"
and tight instead of mushy!

I think only the 95-96 Max's feel this way. I have a 99 GLE and it is solid. You can feel a "thunk" as you close the doors.
There aren't any rattles in the car either.
I'd suggest you check out some body shops in your area and see if they can do some welding to reinforce the doors and body's?? Didn't older F-bodies have stronger subframes that you can weld to the body? I'm sure a store than design one for the Maxima.

I tried closing my 96 Maxima, other 4th generation Maximas, enven 2000 Maxima and the 2000 I30 when I test-drove it. I'd say they have pretty much the same closing sound. I'd describe that the closing sound has a little longer bouncing time compared to Camry, especially when I compared both front doors. My guess is that in general front doors are heavier than rear doors, and when they close they bounce on the B pillar area which is not as solid as the rear body where rear doors bounce against.
I tried doors on ES300 and my RX300, much solid closing sound.

yeah, i think the maxima has a very nice sound when closing the doors. my moms honda odessey minivan sounds like crap. the doors feel light and slam shut with little effort. my 97 max feels like a real car my dads ford trucks' doors are very loud...
