Whats the best and easiest place to mount the EGT probe from a EGT gauge? Its a really big concern of mine right now. I would rather now put it in the the header because I would rather not drill the header. I would rather drill the y-pipe rather than the header. But if its best to drill the header. Then I guess I must. Anyone with pics of their probe mounted. How did you guys get it done? I think I'm sold on getting the NOS brand nitrous kit. Going to use the extra money I was gonna spend on the ZEX kit on the gauges. And bottle heater.

SCC said to put the EGT sensor into the header right next to an exhaust valve, because that will give the most consistently accurate readings.

And you don't have any trouble with readings right? Does your A/F meter work well? Do you think I need it? A friend of mine has one on his car and all it does is jump around all the time. I know the EGT is a must have and fuel pressure.

EGT and F/P is only necessary if you are going higher than a 60 shot

I mounted it to the front header. I left it on when I installed it. I did remove the heat shield. I left the motor running ehrn I drilled it so the pieces of metal would shoot out and not go into the exhaust system. Then when I taped it I used some of that high temp exhaust manifold repair goop on the threads, liquid steel???, it gets harder as it gets hotter. Works like a charm.

My probe is at the Y-pipe

It's right where the two tubes join togther. Not as accurate as if it was right at the header, but it's better than nothing.

One ?

Is it ok to have the EGT sensor reading off one bank, or is it best to read after both banks

It is best to do both. What I did was put the EGT on the front bank and the AF on the rear.

Re: One ?

You could go as far as one probe per exhaust runner. My shop said there are people that actually spent that kind of money. The result...at the most 10 degrees difference between them.
