Just stumbled into this thread.
Nice to see old names. Got my maxima back in 1998, had 2 of them and moved on. Recently saw a 1989 maxima white on blue, 5 speed, for sale. It's the same combo as my first maxima.
Mostly on clublexus now, but I still check in here coz my dad and brother both still have their maximas.

I been here since Jamie Sanford had the site. He passed it onto Kevin and the list goes on.... This site is the number one Maxima site in the world. it has lots of information. You got alot of people with alot of knowledge and then some. There are younger kids working on their own cars now. Tearing stuff all the way down. props to these youngsters for being brave. Keep up the good work!

OG Aussie 3rd Genner checking in. Joined this .org about an hour after it started (member 28 I think) but used to read the old board and 4dsc.com. Not sure if the 3rd Gen guys like Matt93SE (Matt91gxe?) are still around. He was a legend for his mechanical info and his green GXE was the car that made me want to start modding mine. Saved me a lot of cash on repairs over the years and was a nice guy too. Lordrandall, Jeff, Chris91SE, MaximaMike, Tony (The Max), Andrew, Uncle Pete? Can't believe I'm old enough to remember when 3rd Gens were the current model. 
Ended up trading the '90 for an immaculate dark blue pearl metallic '95 5spd. Immediately fitted the MEVI but then quickly ran out of interest in modding it further (BTW, the original Harlan switch is still working perfectly!) Many years later I still drive it but the clear has completely peeled off the hood, roof and trunk.
Lots of 90s Nissan clearcoats can't handle super high-UV Aussie sun for more than a decade, see it all the time on Skylines, 200SXs etc. My Max looks like it's been sitting in the middle of a freakin' blazing inferno. It's still reliable and runs strong but it's worth zero cash and when the trans finally goes the car will be dumped at the wreckers and I'll get a used black 6th Gen. 
Still find myself coming here occasionally to search for repair info and it's still a brilliant resource. Long live the Maxima. PS. Sorry for making this post into a freakin' encyclopedia entry.

Anybody know how to quiet down a 1997 GLE ?
I just got new struts/shocks front & back in my 1997 GLE maxima around 100k miles.. But it is still soooo Loud with every bump in the road.. Any ideas on how to quiet the ride? Any idea to get it super quiet ?? Thanks in advance

I'm still around here too... no maxima's at the moment (two Hondas...an 05 Civic SI and 98 Accord EX 5 speed) and a Z32 w/RB26DETT). I've been maxima-less since about 2004, but plan on getting another one soon.
Maxima.org (and 4dsc) I've been on for at LEAST 10 years, probably longer.
I'm better known as "Zfreak" these days (well, since 2000-2001'ish)

Oh yeah and someone sell me an '00 headlight. I hit a dear in mine and it didnt even fall down and broke my headlight. I don't trust any of these new guys. LOL

LOL, you remembered! Yes it ended up coming. At first I was worried that I didn't pay you or something, but I saw that payment was sent October 31, 2006... such a long time ago!
I never had a chance to use it, as the car was wrecked by the time the ECU arrived... still trying to sell the ECU, no buyer yet though
