1. I can't be really sure, but I think when this forum started many of the post ****** at that time were pissed because we couldn't carry our post count over from the old site.
2. Jamie (Jambo) didn't even really mod his car from what I remember. He was just a guy who wanted a site for people to gather and discuss Maximas. I really think his car was almost bone stock.
3. We were so annoying back in the day that Daniel B. Martin, who was so knowledgable from what I remember, quit the site.

When I first joined this site I had a '68 Mustang (thus the username). I had always wanted a Maxima and bought one off my friend about 5-6 years ago. I've had new trucks and SUVs since but I always loved Maximas.

I probaby haven't visted the site in years and just started browsing around the other day because there were some things I have to get straigtened out on my Max. This was the first forum I ever joined - quite a while ago. I belong to several forums of different subject matter, now, that I am quite active on. This forum has changed a bunch since I used to come here. I look forward to spending a bit more time on here now.

I think this may be the the first time I have posted here in about 9 years. Time flies....

Will have been here eight years in June, but have owned nothing but Maximas since Oct 1984, when I bought two 1985 models (one for my wife and one for myself). Hard to believe that was 26 1/2 years ago.

I didn't own the 1st generation Maxima (have owned all gens since), but carpooled with a friend who did. He had the diesel version (diesel was a gen 1 option), and I was very impressed with that first gen. Before that, I had carpooled with a friend who drove a beautiful light blue 1969 Datsun 2000 roadster.

I owned nothing but Datsuns from 1978 to 1984. 'Datsun' is the name Nissan put on all their vehicles until the '83-'84 name-change to 'Nissan.' The 1st generation of the Maxima was the DATSUN Maxima until the changeover to Nissan.

The Maxima was a redesigned/renamed replacement of the fine Datsun 810. I almost bought an 810 in 1977, but the salesperson I was working with left that dealer, and I was not comfortable with his replacement. A few months later, I bought a sporty 5 speed manual '78 Datsun 200SX instead.

As with most folks here, I have a very busy schedule, so generally spend time only on the board associated with the generation I am driving at the time. I know I miss a lot of good info when I skip over this board which covers all gens.

I am obviously a NOOB to this site. Glad to see that you have had some members for quite a while. I am not a noob to Nissan. I have owned:
2003 Blue 350Z Top Secret Wide Body (still own)
2003 Gold 350Z Top Secret Wide Body
1995 240SX Sylvia Conversion
R33 Skyline GTR V-Spec in Volcanic Orange
R33 Skyline GTR in Sonic Boom Blue

Maybe some day I can reach OG status, but 9 years just doesn't cut it I don't think.

That be me!

Checked in officially in April 2001....after getting my 98SE 5spd in March of that year. I was real young and some of the things i did in that car have yet to be replicated 10+ years later...i think they call that "youth".

Moved onto other things but i still enjoy seeing Maximas around even though the plot was lost after the 6th gen was hoisted on us!

Have you driven the 6-speed? I personally thinks it shifts like crap compared to the 5-speed.

Yes I have, personally I liked it a little better. To me it felt "less rubbery" going into gears, but everyone has their own opinion between the two. Just wondering if it would require any modification. From the Imformation I've gathered it looks like it should bolt right up, but wanted see if anyone else knew for sure that it will or will not

This site have grown over the years and so have I. It has made many of us quite confident to work on our cars .. which is a far cry from being able to do just oil changes. I remember the days it was common to see 4gen SE rims on 3rd Gen and remember the guy from Long Island who made the first L.E.D board for his 4th Gen tail lights .. ?
I have left this forum many times ,as my life and my cars changed but kept returning due to the continued support and information provided to me from this forum.

04 Maxima headlight

My car was wrecked before I bought it and an incorrect headlight part was put on. The metal dome that the bulb is supposed to lock into is the wrong part. It does not have the grooves for the bulb to lock, so the positioning is wrong. Can anyone tell me the name of the metal dome that the bulb is supposed to lock into so I can replace it?
