I have a '97 maxima se, with the bose sound system. It has the double din, and I am wondering if anyone has had any problems installing an after market stereo. I have purchased an alpine CDA-7864 headunit, and it seems to be too wide to replace the factory radio. Does anyone have any knowledge? Can someone tell me about the mounting kit for the car. I am planning on putting in a component set, and some subs. I am going to rewire the whole car so I can put everything in fresh. I just don't know how the deck will fit, and/or look. Anyone have any comments, hints, or experience. I want it to look good when I am done. I hope I do not have to cut the molding around the stereo. Any help would be great. Thanks.

 

It will fit with no cutting. I didn't install my HU so I don't remember if it needed an installation kit or not. But with the double-DIN opening, there is plenty of room for a standard HU and a DIN-sized signal processor together.
