Its the hurricane, I went and got gas sunday night in preparations for what was to come. But just watch the news, they shut down all the refineries in the gulf where the hurricane hit, and some of them may even be damaged. It's only up 5 cents or so right now but I bet it will be in the $3.00 range in AZ pretty soon.

I saw today that prices went up by me. $3.33 a gallon of super. That's insane since it was $2.70 two days ago. I went to an Exxon station not far from my house and saw $2.55(Regular), $2.69(Plus), and $2.79(Super). God must love me since I saved 54¢ per gallon yet still paid $33.31 to fill up with 90 miles on the DTE.

At least Jersey is good for something.

What we have to watch out for is price gouging (however you spell it). I went to a couple of stores yesterday and was observing the different prices in various gas stations. One station was $3.45 Premium, another a few blocks away was $2.99, while another was $3.05. I don't understand how one station is almost $.50 cents more per gallon than another one two blocks away.

Gas price is not regulated. They can price it at what ever they want. I filled up my tank for $44.40 at $2.95/gallon. If the port was shut down in Louisiana, we had a shortage...we still have a shortage, but we (consumers) still need gas just like we needed gas two weeks ago. The gas stations still have to pay their expenses to run their business, otherwise they will close. A barrel of gas is priced just under $70...I believe that's the highest it has been in history! So they had to increase the prices to pay their own bills.

I dislike to say it, but price of gas will continue to rise! They are other countries who are demanding more oil now. Oil is a hot ticket item, just like a new version of the playstation before xmas (we all remember that). To lower gas prices, a large population of the world would have to boycott it. But how likely is that to happen? I still have to get to work everyday, run errands, and take care of my family...and some of us have to heat their homes with oil.

....ok i'm done

Gas prices will continue to rise. It will only level out for awhile, but don't expect to pay $2.00 for a gallon ever again in this lifetime. Expect it to hit $5.00 per gallon in 2 years. Due to China's booming industrial market and the greedy American desire for huge gas-guzzling trophies, we have no one to blame but ourselves. Deal with it.

It was $2.59 yesterday morning for regular (fairly low for lately, I've paid up to 2.79 for regular) and then on the way home from work my dad called me and told me it had gone up to $2.99 for regular, so I hopped in my beater and went to get some food, and happened to see a station still at $2.79 so I filled up... $35 for like 12 gallons

Not to mention the oil exporters and/or companies desire to make a profit. The exporters and domestic oil companies can basically set whatever price they want and claim its because of a huge gas shortage. They are basically printing their own money right now.

I heard that gas costs 2 euros per LITER in Germany which is close to $10 per gallon. Now, that's insane.
