I believe I'm the first with cleared and tinited I30 taillights.
Also I think I'm the only person with the Cefiro Sport/mesh grille, and it's painted black now.
I think I was the first to order a gunmetal dash kit from Shadow. I don't know if anybody bought it after me.
I was one of the first to get a full DE-K running in my car, although all credit goes to Tilley for that. Just my "idea".
I believe my I30 is one of the few with OEM gray leather.

And hopefully soon I'll be the first Maxima/I30 with stage 2 SFCs, stage 2 LTB and JClaw's traction bars....

If I remember correctly, it was late May, or early June. Certainly not the first, but one of them. Or was it the first?

I'll be the first to break 10 seconds in the quarter. It'll happen within the next year. Yep, I just put it out there! Just two more checks to write on this car, then I can buy a Civic and start really modding my max. It's not done yet, but it'll happen. I'm also buying a spare motor so I don't have to worry about blowing mine up completely.

Didn't SY actually have the first Y-Pipe? This was in like '97/98. Granted, it was pretty much a muffler shop custom job, but it was a Y-Pipe. Cattman was just the first to actually manufacture one and sell it.

Who's Pelto? I figured if I can't get my set-up to work right, maybe Tilley or Mardigras will beat me. Another quick guy that might get there would be JayPee.

Don't worry, it'll happen.......

Ohhh... I forgot his last name.

Tilley might be close if he can keep his car running. They both have simular set-ups.

BTW: Mardigras may not beat me to the 10 second mark. He's pretty conservative. I don't have a problem blowing a motor and getting a new one. It's always good to have extra paper weights around anyway...

I know my car's slow now, but it won't be for very long. The biggest two problems I'll have is finding a way to put the power to the pavement and learning to drive it right in the quarter mile. It'll be an auto (no aftermarket clutch for the 6 speed, so no way to take a lot of power), so most of the driving part should be pretty easy once I hit the launch right.

It will take a lot more than pure power output to run a 10. A few people have capable setups to run big numbers but getting all that power down the track is more than just a heavy foot and sticky tires. Mardi has already cracked deep into the 11's and once he ups the power and gets the feel for the car it will run a 10. Good luck in your quest though.

I'm well aware. Looking forward to getting creative on the suspension, frame, gearing (should be OK), and one or two little tricks I want to try.

Anyway, back on topic: Who the hell decided wheel spacers was a good idea on the back of the 5th gens?

Who came up with using O2 sims?

I dont know if you will have the gearing it will take to run the mph for a 10 unless you plan on using a bulk of OD which is pretty tall.

Haven't thought of that one yet. The other option is a 6th gen manual. I believe there's an aftermarket clutch for that plus it has HSLD (As far as I can remember). I'll have to research both of those before I move to getting the tranny done.

BTW: the 5.5 gen auto tops out at 160 at 6500 RPM's (not that I'd know anything about that....). Raising the rev limit just a little should get me over what I'll need to do.

So you plan on using OD for a drag racing gear? You won't ever reach 160 in an NA Auto so thats mostly speculation of what it "should" do if you ran it out of gear. With a raised rev limit you will have enough mph in 3rd gear for a 10 second pass, thats if you can get it to hold and not have the tranny turn into tossed salad.

You don't need to top 160 to run 10's. 130mph or so would do it, and lower if you had an amazing 60'. The Maxima auto is geared so tall that you're going to need a ton of power to make it work.

I'm actually more worried about too much power. Like I said, I got a couple of ideas. I've been watching every other 3.5 forum......

You are so wrong about that. Max'n' out has a gold SC max that was sitting in Rob's shop just after my car had been released. He made his tranny after he pioneered mine. Redmax was soon to follow. It took 4 visits for Rob to even get everything right. This was his first 4th gen power rebuild. He also did the same thing to my 3rd gen that resulted in 141 fwhp on the dyno all from an 89' with 150,000 miles on it. Next...

JimW had his built by some dude in New York...I think I may still have the number.

metal maxima was gonna swap with me, but changed his mind. I'm still gonna put the 2k1 gauge cluster in my 98, which no one has done. One person put a 2k3 cluster in their 4th gen, but that's completely different. it's probably harder as well. i've made the complete wiring diagram already, all i need is the cluster, and time.

Including the keyhole? Or just the letters

I shaved my letters in '99, but got the directions from someone on here. I shaved the keyhole in '01.

I've seen more people with the camera in the keyhole than with it shaved. Either way, good mod!

Haven't checked this thread in a while, too lazy to read the rest.

So not sure if he's been mentioned. Maxgtr2000, Andrew. I don't believe he was the first, possibly 2nd, to do dual projectors, but certainly caught everybody's attention with it. I also think if it wasn't for him not as many people on here would be driving with some retrofits!
