Is horsepower going down?

We all saw Toyota and Honda get whacked, but I just noticed that the 2k7 WRX STi Limited has only 293 HP. It also has a lip spoiler. The 300 HP and big spoiler always did it for me. Maybe under 300 HP is good seeing as fuel is so darn expensive, just blew through Katrina prices. This time around it's for real!

Ahhh, grasshopper, but you can no longer dial 50/50 either, not the horsepower that the 2k6-7 owner notices, but the fact that the oversteer has been reduced from a 2k5. The tiny lip spoiler puzzles me still--that's how we recognize the STi, otherwise it could simply be a WRX or even worse, an Impreza STi wannabe.

allegedly the "Limited" is a slightly toned-down version of the WRX-Sti, for folks who wanted similar performance minus the "rice-boy" attention....this per Autoweek mag, current issue.

how -7hp = less rice,

That's an interesting concept--it has the "wannabe" look, with the killer performance. Going to make for interesting showdowns. I guess even Subaru has to figure out a way to keep sales up. In a way, that car's been out for a while and is resting on its laurels, sooner or later someone will take it down if they don't improve it. Maybe Hyundai or even the new Chinese car...
