Gated Shifter... Home depot 56K maybe not

Well im trying to get some type of a gated shifter in the car. I just dont have alot of time to keep working on it. Just curious what you guys think and looking for any things you think could make it look better besides going back to stock.

So far this is what i have. I know its alittle sloppy now because this is just a template that im fooling around with fitment of everything.

The shifter was too big to have it be gated in that little space so i stuck the shift boot through it so there isnt a hole there.

And for this im thinking of relocating (spell check) the defogger and hazard switch into the center part.

If anyone thinks this is a good idea give it a try because this will take me awhile until im done.

Also im taking the carbon fiber off and going to paint the pieces it was covering with a silver paint and then probally going to paint the piece im making black.

Why mess with the natural lines of the oem interior? I never understood that. Give the project the boot bro, sorry.

I think you should try to relocate the hazard and defroster between the shift trim and cupholder and put back the stock style boot or fiberglass the bottom half of the shift trim and then mount the switches there.

There's already enough room for a screen, what else do you need in the upper dash?

Tyrexx: What do you mean. I have a screen in the dash, well i did, and the radio relocated to the open slot, but my guages for the supercharger are where the clock and the buttons for the defogger and hazards were.

It's called HOME Depot for a reason...

if that is the entire throw of your shifter, that has to be the most annoying car to drive.....

Yea i know its not gated. I said up in the first post that i was going to make it gated but the shifter was too think and to acctually make it gated the gate part would be as thick as a piece of hair.

Concentrate on getting your radio back in.

Is that a horn under your glove box?

The radio has been out for 4 months. I havent found the need to redue the radio, rear speakers, and possibly the fronts the supercharger wine is enough for me for now. Yes that is a horn under the dash for the tweeters in the kick pannel.

I give you points for trying, but if you want to do something a little different, go with an auto shifter trim, and get a leather shift boot, like mine. It's not much, but it'll do. I like the idea of a gated shifter trim, but that looks a bit sloppy.

I was just curious why there is any mention of 56k at this time (April 2006). If a person still dialed-up to the web, and they saw there were too many images to upload to the page, wouldn't they simply just go back? Or if there were that much concern, wouldn't the web page be designed as such as to display thumbnails?

Sorry, it just doesn't seem logical to me to mention 56k. It's like saying to stay on the line if you have a rotary phone, when you're designing an IVR, that stopped in the early 90's. Or is it one of those things like smokers' rights, that we have to accomodate for 1/4 of 1% of the general public?
