I only noticed this recently and I've recently installed a new auto tranny and Don's VB upgrade. I don’t recall hearing it before I put in Don's VB but I can't be sure if it is related. I have Don’s VB mod and I wonder if it is a normal noise for cars with this mod. Anyone else notice this?

It only does it when the car is in Reverse or any forward gear. When the car is in Park or Neutral, it’s quiet. When I’m in the car, I can only hear it when the windows are down and the car is close to another object, like stopped at a light with a guardrail on one side. When the car is in the garage it is very noticeable. If you stand near the car while someone else shifts it, you can also hear it.

Any suggestions?

Jim

mine was, but went away

It went away after one day, but mine was exactly opposite, it made the noise in park and neutral. but not in any gear. Its gone now, so I not sure what it was.

*** THIS IS DON IN TEXAS using Ricks Computer at his house****

I've heard this before, but its always gone away after a while, so its never been long term.

I can guess that its the pump making noise before the fluid is gone thru the whole tranny, OR line pressure, and it just SOUNDS mechanical.

I've heard it on BigTexan7 (drews) car when we went to HRP about 2 months ago, but it(the sound) didn't stay long enough to trace EXACTLY where it came from. Its nothing to worry about, but I would still like to find the culprit.

Not me

i've had my VB for 9K miles now .. from day one to now i've never heard a fluttering noise...

Don mention something about fluid circulating through tranny... well i remember after installing it i let it sit on my cousins lift at his shop for a LONG time in each gear to make sure the fluid was properly circulated .. and even then i didn't drive hard right away .. i slowly would let the car shift at a low rpm in the begining and then gradually increase...

i don't think Synki's car made that noise
and after me and NJ95GXE did his VB and went for a ride i didn't hear anything either ..

Okay, Don, I'll keep an eye on it for awhile. As long as you don't think it's something serious.

I've got to take it back to the dealer to have another noise fixed related to the new tranny and I'll ask them if they can track it down.
