These things really suck, I am on my 3rd set, each set going out in about 2-3 months...i buy 'em cuz they are cheap but supposed to be of high quality, but i guess you get what you pay for. What kind of 9004 bulbs are you guys running? I am looking for an overwatt 80/100watt superwhite bulbs. Anyone have the new Showoff brand bulbs with Xenon and Krypton gases? Pricey, but look good

My girlfriend has the Hipers on her car and so far they've been great. Only time will tell though.

I've actually heard some pretty bad things about the Showoff bulbs. But I have no personal experience with them, so I really can't say.

I have had the Hiper bulbs in my maxima for over 6months and no blow out. Just took them out since I went with the HID kit. Now gotta remove that cause I just bought the new 2K2 headlight assembly.

I have the Showoff bulbs in my girlfriend's altima for over 1yr now and still going strong.

It is all about how you install them, if you even touch the bulb to anything while installing them, it just screws them up quicker, that is what i have noticed.

Trust me, I know about how the oils on your fingers can cause a blowout... but i am very careful when installing my lights. I dunno, I just don't like Hipers anymore, the first set of superwhites I bought were nakayama racings HID feeling lights, those lasted over a year and I gave them to a friend b/c i found out they were overwatts, this was before I bought the upgrade harness...

Here's some great lights.

Look at jcwhitney.com they sell bulbs called Diamond Blue. They are available in 80/100. They throw a very nice white HID style light. They match the PIAA Fogs and PIAA wedge 1167? (side markers 27W) perfectly. The front of my car is crystal clear and it all matches.

I've had them for about 4 months now, still nice and bright and no sign of damage to my wiring harness.

Don't buy any bulbs with Zenon gas in them. They are junk if you ask me. The Diamond Blue is a Halegon bulb and by far is the best HID imitator I've ever seen. Best of all I think there only about 12 bucks each.

The Nakayama HID feeling bulbs i purchased were through an import shop in the east coast called Aftermarket Concepts, 717-751-2323.
They were very durable and bright. I wish i still had them b/c i paid a pretty penny for them. As for the statement of do not purchase bulbs that contain Xenon...could you go further into that statement? The bulbs you state, just plain halogens with a blue coating are ion blue light bulbs that just have a blue appearance to them. Most all bulbs that are superwhite contain Xenon gases mixed in with the normal gases.

The Diamond Blue Bulb is not an ion bulb. It's the same concept as the blue visions everybody raves about, only these are available in 80/100 and do look more like HID. They DO NOT throw blue light!! I've had several Zenon crap bulbs in my car only to see worse then ever. Especially in the rain, you'd be better driving without lights on at all.

The xenon gas makes the filiment burn hotter which in turn I believe burns up sockets and wiring harnesses as some on here talk about.

All I can tell you guys is these bulbs have very nice HID style white light, there cheap, they run cool and look very clean!

I've had Naxus, APC, Hyper Ind. PIAA (waste of $$$) and a few others which are all in my attic collecting dust after I found these Diamond Blues. These look white compared to any zenon bulb I've every used.

I wish somebody else on here would try them out and back me up on this. I guarantee your going to love them.

Here's the link to the bubls I'm talking about.

I apologize for misunderstanding your initial post. I've never heard of Xenon gas for being at fault for causing harnesses to be burned out. Many people including myself have used Xenon bulbs in the normal wattage and haven't had any problems(well i've used regular and overwatts in xenon and normal halogens without problems). The problem seems to be using overwatt bulbs without an upgraded harness. If you're using overwatts without the upgraded harness you got lucky like me and your OEM harness didn't melt. I know run an upgrade harness. I understand that the purpose of Xenon is to more effectively use the power to create more and brighter light. I cannot find whether Xenon used in conjunction with the regular gases create a hotter temperature. I know from actual HID systems that the temperature is very low, but HID's use all Xenon gas, so i do not know if it's the same. So i'll look further into it and those lights you suggest. thanks.

I have the 55 watt and have not have that many problems with them. Most of my friends have them in their cars too. They are cheap and worth it. I have extra pairs for backup and for sale if anyone is interested. They also make blinker bulbs.

i have Hyper industries xenon lights. i don;t know if it is any different than Hiper but all i can say is these bulbs last, its been 2 years ever since i got them and the bulb is not colored, it is the actual glass thats givena a very nice blue tint. Result: true, bright white light. Also, after installing the APC wire harness these bulbs have increased their performance, to the true performance of H.I.D. or that is how i feel.

If there was something inherently wrong with Xenon gas...

Why would Infiniti use it as the OEM headlight for the I30 and Q45? The flaw lies in execution or installation.

I just got some of the Sylvania Cool Blues on Monday, and installed them...well one, anyway. The right side bulb was being really stubborn and I couldn't get it out. I haven't had time to try again yet. But now that I think about it, it was a lot easier to see the difference. The Cool Blues have a much 'whiter' light, with a very slight blue tint to them. I'm happy with the change, and I think that when I finally get the other one installed, my visibility will be much better. If you're looking for better visibility, get 'em. If you want that HID-look, you could do better.

I've never heard of xenon bubs melting wiring harnesses either. I've only heard of high wattage or cheap bulbs doing that. I've used hiper industries xenon plasma bulbs also and they are ok for their price. I am currently running PIAA super plasmas on my car at the moment.

Im using the APC 9004 Xenon Superwhite and I like them, but they burn out too quickly. When I first bought them, I didnt know about the upgrade harness, so my stock ones fried. I have had the upgrade harness for almost a year now, and now those are melting the upgrade harness. I like the blue tint in these bulbs. Does anyone recommend better bulbs than these that will have the same if not better color? Bluer is betta

i have Cuzo Xenon bulbs and they are awesome. Yea, they're overwattage and really coated blue, but everyone comments on how bright they are and how much light they put out. I've had them for over a year now too, and so far no problems. Only bad part is i don't know where to get them anymore because the place i bought them at closed down (they were ~$50). So if you're looking for bulbs with a really nice blue color and durability, i've had great experience with these ones.

BTW.. Let me know if you find these anywhere.

Should have bought the 55 watt instead of the 80 watts.

The bluest ones I have seen are the Nokya Artic Whites, you can get them for 21, including shipping from Importpartsplus.com but it may take 2 weeks to get them to you, but they are very blue, be sure to get the harness though
