I dont think Ill ever find out. I test drove an Altima 3.5SE last weekend (granted it was an auto), but I didnt really like it. The interior seemed way too cheap for a $29k car. (I couldnt believe the MSRP was that high.) I know that the car has some good performance in the 5 speed version, but for $29k and as a daily driver you need to buy more than just a quarter mile time.

The 2002 Max, to me, is just a carryover that will be replaced shortly with a new design. After seeing both the 2002 Altima and 2002 Max side by side, its obvious. The cars are way to close in all aspects.

It might be fun to drive a 5 speed Altima/ 6 speed Max though. Ill have to weasel a test drive form the local dealer.

 

IMHO, the interior ruins any performance benefit the Altima might have.
