anyone with a HKS SS BOV?
I'm thinking of swapping out the Blitz for the HKS one. My Blitz is a bit messed up, don't ask.
I know Mardigrasmax has one, but when he bought the SC, it was on there already. I know you have to weld the HKS onto the piping, but how? I bought the aluminum flange that was needed for the welding. Will there be any cutting involve? I look at the flange that I bought and it just look a bit weird. I don't see how it could be weld onto the piping unless there's a bit of cutting involve. And where could I go for the welding? Body shop? Thanks.

yrea i got HKS BOV...but mines a turbo...hahaha. uh, if your piping is aluminum then get the aluminum flange, if its steel, you get the steel one. Yes, it needs to be welded on. aluminum is harder to work with then steel, so make sure whoever is doing it is good. Fabrication shops, some exhaust shops and some performance shops should be able to do this. Id estimate under 1 hour labor.

if you have to weld...
MAKE SURE there are no leaks...
the only way to be sure is to fill the pipe with water and blow pressurized air on the outside of the pipe near the welds...
if you see bubble rise up thru the water you got a leak...
took us ALOT of time and welding to get it not to leak...
ANNOYING.

The SC piping on my car is aluminum right? Hm...seem like a lot of trouble, maybe I should just return it.

The supersequential BOV does not make an SC car faster, instead it cause compressor surge and will damage the seals and bearings in the SC. I strongly suggest you talk to Steven at Vortech about. If you have done it, don't mention it to him or they will immediately void the warranty. The SSBOV is designed to control the speed of a turbo compressor wheel to help spool up by varying the amount of pressure that is vented. The problem with it on an SC is that the compressor wheel speed is set by the engine. When the SSBOV opens, the throttle plate closes and it doesn't vent the pressure, either the air will have to back through the SC(this is what damages the seals and bearings) or if the tension on the belt isn't high enough then the force against the compressor wheel will jam up the SC and cause the belt to slip over it. Neither are desireable, so don't do it.

the blitz is a good BOV, but out car just makes too little pressure to actually make a "loud" enough burst. more of a low "Douuuuuuuu" than a high-pitched "FFFSSt" that is common in supras or rx7.
the Greddy Type S has a high pitched bov, but the racing type R bov is more like a "DEwwww"
there is TurboX's bov for boost under 12psi. which gives a generic fizzle, which is similar to Apexi's design and sound.
the HKS is sequential and not really that great for superchargers, but it does have a loud bov for low boost and highboost applications that are on cars like supras n stuff.

Oops, I forgot to say that I didn't purchase the HKS BOV yet. Typo of my part. I was just thinking about it, that's all. The Blitz is a good BOV, it just that the adjustment screw is kind of stripped because of my fault.
Cheston, how's your car doing? Everything is smooth now?
Loren, what size pulley are you running?
Btw, I might go Kev's route with the smaller pulley size.

The auto tranny is getting on my nerves. Even with the VB, it is still not good enough. Too bad a 5spd swap is just too costly.

hey mr CumsAlot,
ill take that flange if you want to sell it
look at Cheston, being a knowit all. wow BOV EXPERT!!! hahahah
the sound also varies how much boost you run and design of piping. Ever noticed that ANY bov on an MR2 is loud? most of my honda friend's that have Apexi sounds like a lazer, dunno anything bout a fizzle...haha
