Take one of your front wheels off. Look behind the rotor. You will see a metal peg with a little plastic cap on the end of it. Chances are your plastic cap has hole worn in the end of it. Hence your metal on metal grinding noise. This is probably the same on the other side if you are getting the noise when you turn the wheel both ways. You need to replace those plastic caps.

fking turning radius on my 3rd gen killed me twice lately

first i drove a girl at work home because it was cold out and she had to walk, i missed her turnoff and went to make a U-turn to a side road. barely made it because of the turning radius, it wasnt a tight turn even, pretty embarassing

number 2, my uncles Grand Prix got hit a few days ago and will most likely be a writeoff so i drove him to all the dealerships today, drove around instead of walking because of the snow, of course its a tight fit and it was a bish having to reverse on lots of turns turning to go from each row of cars

Well, my first 03 GLE I bought new, and I hated the huge turn radius, solid rear axle, underpowered brakes, and slushy trans. Traded her in 2006. I missed the Max so much, just bought an 03 SE last week. She has miles, and I still hate the wide turns, solid axle, weak brakes, slushy trans.

But that V6! MMmmmmm. Makes it all better.

My mom owns a loaded 96 Maxima SE purchased new and to this day only has about 50k on it. She didn't like the Bridgestone Potenza's that it came with (bad in the snow) and she had an ABS light come on but other than that, the car has not had one single major issue in over 10 years!

My wife and I just purchased a 06 Maxima 3.5 SE a week or two ago. It's as loaded as it gets, but I already can tell the gas mileage is going to hurt compared to our 08 Mazda3S. The V6 and the roomy interior w/ all the amenities was worth it though in my mind

I have noticed that the ride is rather firm w/ the 18" wheels and I get a rather annoying rattle in the drivers front pillar it seems like when I hit bumps or rough patches of road. I will also agree w/ those who commented about the turning radius as well... definitely a bit frustrating but it is a pretty long vehicle.

The only thing this vehicle doesn't do that I wish it did was support MP3 or at least AUX for an iPod.

Since I don't have the permission to post my own thread and I can't find a direct answer on this, I must add to the list...

I hate that my 6 Disc Bose does not play burned CDs! What's up with that!? Every car I've owned has played burned CD's! It blinks forever then says "Check Disc" ... out of nowhere I got 2 burned CDs to play after multiple tries, any insight on this issue?

1. weak alternator bracket. the L24E got the crap end of the stick, the L28ET from the 280zx actually got a beefy bracket... mine bends when any kinda load is put on the belt assembly (>1500 rpms), thrown 3 different alternator / water pump belts in <1000 miles.
2. fusible links
3. old school nissan / datsun wheel bearings don't give ANY KIND OF WARING BEFORE THEY DISENTEGRATE
4. rubber bushing rear diff mount is NO GOOD after you lower the car anything lower than stock. and the only option to fix this is to go with a solid diff mount, which makes alot more road noise / vibration transfer.
5. weak power steering pumps (GM saginaw units, haha, go figure)
6. the window lock button is easily tripped with my elbow all the time
7. weak factory seat fabrics.
8. bad design in placement of the battery, and not including a factory tie-down... it easily slides into the powersteering pump pulley which makes for all kinds of issues ROFL

Does anyone's keyless entry battery-holder fall off all the time? The last time it came off i lost it, so for now there's the battery, then a quarter on top, then a gum wrapper balled up, then some electrical tape

Only having 2 pedals stinks too...

my 4th gen is so annoying to u turn around i wanna slap the **** out of it. if theres a clean safe mod to improve upon this clear shortcomin lemme know..... however its not like it handles poorly while yer driving but once ur trying to parallel park.....

Gas mileage, turning radius, and this clunky noise in the front on a hard bump. They say it is fine, but still don't like it.

Also, it sucks in the snow!!

So far,
the noise when i turn the wheel full lock
rough start
rear brakes make a 'ping' sound when braking
my driver seat is INCREDIBLY WOBBLY!!!
the sunroof was siliconed so that it stops leaking
i dont have the sunroof cover, so the sun shines in my face
rear window is messed up and wont stay in place

add fluid to the power steering
idk, but you probably shouldn't be driving it (presuming it is a brake issue)
tighten the bolts.
that sucks
that sucks, too
need new window regulator.
5-speed swap isn't the hardest job in the world (sourcing parts for one is, tho! lol )

Turning radius
poor FM reception
rough idle @ cold start
fuel economy (lack thereof)
flexy chassis
2-3 shift flare when cold (auto tranny)
overall length
lack of suspension travel when lowered
premature wheel bearing failures
door/striker interference (probably due to weak hinges/driver door sag)
feel of interior plastics
rear beam
etc.

These are just gripes I have with the design in general, not specific to my vehicle (ie wear and maintenance items). I have quite a few other ones specific to my car.

Well i haven't driven it yet, im just trying to get everything sorted out first. Im gonna check out the car again tomorrow. Because its still raining around my area and its been wet for about 4 days.

And the seats in the car are really tight.
I know what the problem is, im just not sure how to ix it.
Its the rails that make the seat slide, i guess they got off track with the seat.
