Hello guys...need some answers for 94 gxe max...

The other night the car started to intermitantly cut out...going 60 mph...and i just kept my finger cross as i that i could make it to my destination. Never had a problem before...85k miles on the clock and so what could it be...spark plugs?...fuel injector?...gas filter???

Since i am in away from home...just had to call and have it towed to the closest dealer...When it is started ...it idles normal...it's only when going 60 and above and throttle or accelerating it to act up. I just hit the throttle...seems going faster lessen the engine from cutting out...any opinions appreciated...Thanks in advance...

ps...didn't know where to put this as not use to navigating this site...thanks again! Starrider

so the brake+alt= burnt alt is not just a 3rd gen thing, cool, well not really. so did you have the smell of burnt wires? I did when I fried the alt. in my 84 200sx after chillin at a outdoor 420 hang, using my system for tunes and then hopped in and took of with the a/c on high and sure enough the smell of wires burning and then it went, when I pulled the alt. I could see the fried wires on the regulator board.

Today is "D" day, iam pulling out the Old, reading a book, it says i need to remove the rad fans and AC Compressor. to remove it from the bottom, sounds like fun, I been so damn busy with customers cars i cant fix my own, just this week, i did all new brakes, rotors and parking brake shoes on a Toyota previa, I Put a fuel pump in a dodge caravan, put a starter in a Geo Tracker wich blew, Headlights in a Toyota Sienna, and new drum brakes on a old toyota corrola, so i now have some time to fix my baby, Would anyone be interested in Photo's of the progress ?

So i fixed her today, man i was so happy to drive my maxima again, it was pretty simple to remove, unhook your negative wire, remove your radiator fans, 2 bolts on top, then you can unhook the alternator wires, then you get underneith and take off the splash shield, take out the 4 bolts that hold in the AC compressor, push that aside, careful not to crease a line, then you take out the back bolt on the alternator, you can get the other from the top, there is a small nut behind the ideler pully wich was a pain in the *** to put back in but otherwise it only took about a hour. no pics, my camera was dead.

Tough day today...as i said...car made to the next town barely...Dealer found a fouled plug and so new wire cap rotor and injector flush was done...

However...this did not solve the hesitation and misfire problems at freeway speeds...so i took it back...The tech drove it...and noticed the hesitation again right off even after he had worked on it. Because it was intermitant...and running normally in all test...he couldn't go any further and suggested i leave it.

Decided...not to as it would probably sit in the garage all week...collecting dust. So i drove it back...2 hour drive...the last forty miles...it started missing again...drove it easy with a steady light foot on the accelerator...

Any suggestions appreciated...Thanks in advance! Starrider

Thanks Professor.....The car is being gone over presently at the local dealer...They rechecked the injectors.....and said they were fine.

The service guy said ...they couldn't figure out why the vacuum pressure (erg) was high...and that is where it is currently.

Appreciate any suggestions or ideas....Thanks Starrider

UPDATE

Service thinks it is the throttle body which is causing the high erg vacuum...So the plan is to replace it or clean out the old one.

Talking to service...since it's a four hour job...i prefer to just get a new one...only problem is that you have to order it from Japan.....

Any ideas? Where do you guy get parts for these 'old' cars?

Starrider

Yeah that one is a pain in the ***, it looks welded but that entire peice comes off.
you dont turn the nut, just get it from the backside, Ohh and a tip before you snug up the alternator make sure your adjustment pully slides up and down, mine was stuck on that bolt and i couldent tighten the belt up, i had to losen the pully so it was almost off to get it past it.
