Itouch programs for the max/i30

Who's tried the Ipod touch/Iphone programs on there cars. For example "rev" or "pocketdyno" etc.

^ search "dyno" at the app store and it gives you these apps, some are free and they show the cars G-force and the acceleration, kind of interesting.

from what I hear, the accelerometer in the iPhone is not really accurate enough to give good results. fun toy to play with, but not a replacement for a real dyno.
(Yes, I know it's obvious, but I want to make sure the iphone noobs are aware of this before putting money into an app that is not accurate enough to brag about hp/tq figures to their friends.)

Supposedly you can buy an adapter that plugs into your car's computer so that it gives you really accurate readings about RPM, speed, fuel, etc. and then it uses wifi to link up with your iphone or ipod touch.

yes, its for "rev" the app costs 50$ (cept if you jailbreak) but i have no clue how it would work. I tried the G-force reader today, it was alright, not 100% correct but hey its free.

nope. for my version which is "PocketDyno" all you do is go to where you are gonna do your 0-60. click the app. it will pop up and tell u to calibrate it. follow the directions. then put the iPhone/iPod on a flat surface so it will NOT move anywhere. then tap the screen and it will give u a red, yellow, then green light. do your 0-60 and it will clock it. it tells your HP rating and you can also input your curb weight and any mods done to the car. and also save your runs.

You basically level the ipod/iphone and secure it to the car so it wont move around. Click the app and it will give you the instructions, and for the G-Force one it just shows you the G-force as you turn/accelerate.

It's decent, I gave up on it after multiple times trying to calibrate it and it's not that accurate but that's just me. When I got it there was no free dyno apps available so, i don't know the differences between the free ones and the paid ones
