So, 1st gear was already developing more power than the Maxima knew what to deal with. Adding a UDP would only make that gear worse.

2nd gear I can appreciate, but then that means the benefit to the UDP is mostly in 1 gear. I would think it affects all gears, just more subtle as you go higher up.

If too much power was the case in 1 and 2, then don't buy a F-Body, Stang, Supra TT, etc because those cars too will blow the tires off at WOT in 1st and some of 2nd. Yes, traction is hard to come by in the these cars, especially 5 speed off the line. It takes lots of skill and practice to get these cars off the line effectively. On the street, I have to feather the gas somewhat to regulate wheelspin. At the track I spin some, gets some wheelspin, gets some wheelhop, and right around 5000 is where I can go fully WOT. From a roll in 1st, spinning the tires is very easy. Breaking traction into 2nd is also fairly easy. You have to understand the traits of the car. If you're running 17s, traction is even harder to come by in terms of straightline acceleration. Wide and low profile tires are good for cornering, but they suck in the straightline. Why? Because the contact patch is wide and narrow. With narrower tires you have a narrow and long contact patch. I run 215/55R16s and get muc hmore traction than I ever got with my 235/45/R17s.

What is so funny is that many people agree that the UDP does rev up the engine quicker. Ummmmm.....the more power you make, the faster the car accelerates thru the gears.
