everyday that I get up in the morning....I look forward to my 30 min. commute to school with my 5-speed...when I was driving my brother's auto Grand Prix last month to school...I just couldn't get up sometimes

Disclaimer-I don't drive in heavy traffic to or from school...

I was saving up for a 5spd conversion, but after hearing the beautiful whine of the s/c on my friends lightning, and the power it gives, I am thinking about getting one. My question is, would it be possible to find a used V1 s/c for under 2,800 ? Feedback would be very helpful.

IMO, you'd be happier with the results if you went with the SC. A 5spd is nice but it won't be faster than a SC'd auto. Also, get in line for Don's VB mod. You'll need that also.

$2800 seems like a fair price for a used V1 (like mine) and they do show up in the for-sale forums now and then. Keep saving your money and keep an eye out for one.

Have you been to the track yet to see what your car can do?

maybe you can trade your car in for a 97 GTP with $3000 since resale value on those are so lousy and u'll get an S/C with kick a$$ automatic tranmission.

is comparing getting a sc to 5spd conversion even realistic ? It seems a supercharger is gonna be waay more expensive, with the upgrades to my engine i'm gonna have to do.

Will supercharger prices ever go down ? Some cars can get brand new ones for 2200. Also, say for some rediculously lucky reason I got a supercharger, should I expect alot more engine problems and failures ?

Prices will stay becuse for Maximas there is no competition right now.

Some problems yeah maybe. Like broken belts and other "tuning" issues you will have until it runs smooth.

But once it is up and going you should be very happy.
