To bad you didn't have one of those Taser door handle alarms installed on your Max. I'm sure that would have made them think twice.

I'm not sure exactly where you get them. I know tasers are illegal in 8 states of the USA. If you aren't 1 of the 8 states you could probably look online and possibly order one from the web? They are mostly popular over in Europe and Russia. Not sure where or how you'd go about getting one. Something tells me it wouldn't come cheap though.

this question is more so for everyone else.....i has aftermarket alarms and some secret sauces to boot

S0oo.....does anyone know if a shock sensor and\or proximity sensor can be added to the factory alarm?

tapped into the door open trigger\door pin\dome light?

or is it that most consider the factory alarm garbage or vulnerable?

I doubt it would be legal. I was told in California that razor blades on handles an hood latches would be considered premeditated mutilation or something. What's ok in Russia is not always "ethical" or legal here.

I'd like to re-phrase your last sentence - What's effective is rarely legal here.

Razorblades do not equal taser. A taser will not mutilate your hand.

even if using a tazer door handle was legal, the way our justice system works sometimes, you would have to have a lawyer on retainer to handle all of the personal injury lawsuits you would be dealing with(thief hurts himself or dies while trying to break into your car and someone sues you)

Thief: "Officer that door handle shocked me when I tried to force my way into that vehicle to steal the stereo."

Cop: "Hmm that makes breaking and entering rather dangerous to the person committing the theft. Would you like to press charges against the owner of the vehicle?"

Thief: "Yes officer I would! I think I'll sue him too. That'll show that a$$hole for protecting his property!"

Ah yes... Only in the good o' land of the free.

Haha! Ah, this has always boggled my mind. I've heard of people being sued for harming criminals with various traps around their home, AND WINNING. It's crazy how the entire criminal act leading up to the injury seems to be "lost" amongst the lawsuit filed, and the person being sued is now the criminal for simply trying to protect their property. WTF is all I have to say about this kind of stuff happening...
