Went to dealer for Limp mode

I went to the dealer after my car went into limp mode for going over the rev limit. I got an auto 2K2 SE. They said I pressed the gas too much, and that I should take it easy on the car. He went about how these cars are powerful and I need to take it easy on the road. He wants to add an stopper on the gas pedal, so I cannot press all the way down. He has ordered the part (stopper) and will come in on Tuesday. I will most likely not add this stopper. This means I will not be able to go full throttle.

what did they do to fix it? just reset the ecu? were you in '2' or something when you hit the limiter?

My friend was driving the car and I think he had in "3". So that is why it went into the Limp mode. They reset the ECU. They said the car checks out and everything is fine.

Ummmm

thats the stupidest thing I've heard all day.. the 2k2 max is drive by wire!!!! wtf is he thinking???? there is something else up there. you had too much slip, thats the problem.

btw, I know of several 3.5L's failing.. new engine. The 3.5L in my cousins PF failed at 3K. totally new engine. I will be talking to her this weekend to see what happened. She never romped on the gas petal either... so go figure.

It seems odd that they asy you should not put the pedal all the way down. Seems to eliminate the speed of the car.

again..

the gas pedal does not directly control the engine in the 2k2s. Maybe the ECU is the problem. A block under the pedal is not a solution, but could prove dangerous merging and actually needing WOT.
