My '09 Max is a great car, lots of power, love it! One concern, when on cruise at highway speed, the engine rpm surges up and down by 2-300 rpm. It is worse against a stiff wind, but even does it on a quiet day. Is this normal for a CVT or is something wrong? The dealer tells me this is normal. Thanks, Al

I don't know if the 09 still uses the same system as the 3rd, 4th and 5th generations, but it's not normal on the older cars.

Maybe if you posted in the appropriate forum, like the 7th generation forum, you will get a good answer.

My 4th gen does it. Its dependent on speed and RPM. The cruise control will overcompensate when the vehicle sheds a little speed, and backs the throttle off too far. then it will give it too much throttle to pick the speed up again. It will continue with this until you do something to stop it. I find in the city I can downshift, higher revs tend to make it less prominent, like shortening a governor lever.
I blame my sloppy motor mounts.
