Advice on a car

My parents bought my Maxima from me and now I can afford a car up to $22,000. Maybe a little more, but I do not want to pay a lot for monthly payments. What should I buy?

Should I get another Maxima? How much did you 2002 guys buy your cars for?

Oh yah, the reason they bought the car is because one of their cars was breaking.

2000 Nissan Altima with 30,000 miles. What gives? The car was junk.

only 30k?!?! Damn, I'd try to get nissan to fix the car under warranty, or use some lemon law against them and get them to buy it back.

In that price range I think you should be able to get a 2k2 se. If not, I'd probably take a 2k1 new or used se. Since the alty died pretty early on you are you only considering nissan or are you going to consider other cars?

My 1998 Maxima is not paid off. My parents just took over the payments. Car was under mom's name. I just paid for it since I needed my mom's credit to buy the car at the time. I'm going to get a car using my credit this time.

The Altima has tons of problems. It makes a loud noise, the brakes are cheap, interior lights turn off and you have to turn it back on every 10 minutes. It sounds as if the transmission is going too. When I stop the car it feels like a clutch undernear the car and it snaps (I don't know how to describe this).

I'm going for Nissan still if I can. I don't blame the Altima for going bad. The car has no power and you have to push it hard to get power out of it.

I'm trying to get a 1997 Infiniti q45 or a 1995 Lexus lS400. I want luxury this time with a little bit of speed mixed in.

No power in an altima, huh!? Those things are pretty fast for what they are, at least my moms 95 5spd was. That thing had some nice power through the gears.

It was an auto Altima . It ran 1/4 in 16.5 - 17.0. It is still faster than an Accord 4 cylinder and a Camry 4 cylinder.

What about a 1999 Acura 3.2 TL?

I don't want speed. I want more of a luxury/looks.

Your folks are crazy generous! Even a 2k2 Maxima can be had for 22k, what year was yours?

It's a good (somewhat risky) time to put your money into the market. You could get one of those Korean cars with a 1k rebate and 60k bump-bump warranty. Then invest the remaining 9k, which could potentially be 13-14k in 10 months. Assuming you're in the lowest tax bracket, that's a nice gain and you don't worry about short vs. long-term.
