theblue VS. ejj5875

So, Aaron came over tonight and we went out in each others cars for a few friendly runs around town...the results are interesting...

First few runs:

Aaron was driving my 99 and I was driving his 97. Every race...off the line, from a roll, he beat me pretty easily. Bummer. Maybe he's just a better driver than me?

Next few races:

We switch cars so we're both driving our own cars. And sure enough, I win almost every race. I lost the final one, 'cause I gave him a slight head start to see if I could pull him in, and I couldn't. Other than that, my car convincingly won each race!

Now, Aaron is going to come in here and "claim" that the gas made a difference. Yeah, his tank was full and mine was empty, but I really didn't think that mattered . All kidding aside, when I get my cat and catback installed we both agree that my 99 feels much, much faster than my 97, and at least as fast as his car.

Should make for an interesting season at the track...

So if theblue is the fastest N/A 4th gen, and I kicked his a$s tonight, shouldn't that make me the "unoffical fastest NA 4th gen". Oh yeah!

I deny everything and have proof that I was in canada at the time. j/k

it was interesting, ejj did a good job with the writeup, but the real conclusion is that his car may just be a little faster than mine (but only when I'm driving it)

Aaron how would you compare launch

I know you have an intake on your car and it appears that ejj5875 has a CAI how would you compare the launches and low end power.

Thanks

I don't have a CAI. I have the upper piece of the PR CAI with a stillen intake attached to it.

The car's felt more or less the same off the line. Oddly enough it felt like my car had more up top. Go UDP!

You know what I was just thinking? I weigh a good 60-70lbs more than Aaron I'd bet (I'm 230 and he can't be more than 170ish). That would easily offset the gas difference.

once I put my new wheels on then no from you. Just remember that the gap closed when I was driving my car - you're gonna need more than what you got now.

Um, more is getting put on this weekend.

Just admit it, your car is slow compared to mine, and no the gap didn't close. Hell, our run off the line heading away from my place I pulled more than you pulled on me with my car. You only beat me when I let you get the jump. I wanted to be able to say that I gave you a half a car head start and still pulled you in. But, it didn't happen. The cars are too evenly matched for that.

when we left the light I spun through first gear so I think it would have ben closer. In conclusion I think that the UDP does something, maybe just a little, but it did appear to pull up top. Our cars are very close in speed and power, I can't wait until you do your exhaust so we can compare again.

Oh yeah, sorry about that. I just pulled that link out of my profile.

I've had the CAI and now my current intake setup, and I've gotta say that there really isn't a difference other than sound. Many people here will argue, but many will agree that a POP style intake makes more top end power.

That's why I'm going with POP, I want top end for those highway races. My skills off the line already take care of most cars til at least half track, I need more top end to hold off those "faster" cars.

Where are you located? Sounds like you'd be a good race (NA) for Aaron and I.

[EDIT]

Nevermind, I checked your profile...MI is a hike from NY
