we had a mini-meet in the midwest today...and the infamous 99 Red SE-L AUTOMAGIC took out another 5-speed...this time it was a 99 SE-L 5-speed with JWT intake....I truly believe that this auto is a FREAK.....

BTW - my car is back to normal...I raced the auto and only pulled a car.......but I still pulled...

I have beaten many 5-spds in my car.....4th and 5th gen with better than average drivers.

 

no...he can drive..just like I can...I lost to the SAME AUTO 2 weeks ago when my car was messed up...I have a FULLY modded 5-speed that was running about as fast as a 5-speed with just intake..and i got smoked....it's not the drivers...it's that friggen auto...it's a freak...

 

What is it running in the 1/4? I think when I get my intake, my auto will be more freakish too.

i think most people can't wait to see what you will do. we will see once and for all if your is really that fast or the 5spd just need to drive better, even though they claim they can drive.

Good for the auto, I have taken several 5spd drivers in both of my auto's. After the fact they always say what mods due you have!

 

I pull my best 60' times at stock 32 psi tire pressure.

We started to race around 20mph with me in second gear and him in first! He was shifting his automagic "manually".

At the end, my front bumper was at his front wheel well!
WHat can I say, lack of co-ordination on my part!

 

We all have our moments of being out of sink with our 5spd Since you started the race at 20mph shouldn't you have been in first though??

maybe the assembly factory mixed up the 5th gen and the 4th gen parts..

 

it was more like 1 and a half carlengths....he said you shifted right after you guys started too...which means you HAD to be in first gear....

 

Do you shift or leave it in D? Is it a california spec? I have a cali spec which ****ed me off. I don't care about cali emmissions where I live. Slows me down.

I had a good time at the meet with all you guys and I do not want to start a **** fight. If he claims that I have 1 or 2 car lenghts behind him, that is fine. As they said in F&F, "Whether you win by an inch or a mile, winning is winning". He did WIN.
I am open to another race, this from a dead stop.
FYI, that was my first race ever and I kinda liked the adrenaline rush. I would really like to do it again!

My second race was later that day against a supercharged, liquid intercooled 3.125" pulley Maxima.
Needless to say, I lost BADLY. But enjoyed doing it!

 

Well do it again some time.....Im gonna be going to the race track in late March or Ealry April. I don't like to race 5spd off the line on suburban streets becuase i have to go to like 90 to pass them after they beat me off the line.

 

you don't have a vb upgrade yet right? you should consider that if you don't have it.

 

I dont have the money for that right now, i just got some h&r springs. I also have a 1200 insurance payment coming up this summer that i have to start saving up for .

 

yeah i know what you mean. how old are you? good thing i'm over 25 now, the insurance is a bit cheaper. main reason why i start to mod my car so late. i had to pay off the car first, then worry about insurance. it's ok though, you're still kicking major ****.

Honestly, If you were in second gear at 20 and he was in first he would have pulled more than a half car on you. I believe the 2 cars is more of a believable story than 1/2 a car.

Remember i have a 5 speed and know that at 20 mph your rpms would be around 2750 or so. Story doesnt match up honestly

 

One thing I don't understand is why none of you film all these races? I'm sure between everyone at the mini meet someone must own a video camera or have access to one. Video camera can be in a chase car or some sort of finish line.

 

How do you transfer vids from the camera to a computer? Can anyone help?

PhatGuy - I DID HAVE A VIDEO camera at the meet...I just don't have the software or a firewire cable to upload the damn thing to my computer....so if you guys want to chip in any buy me that stuff...I'll have all the videos in the world for ya...

yea..that TL was definitely spraying...I raced him once from a roll...and HAMMERED him...no NOS...then we raced a SECOND time from a roll...and he's pulling on me....so I hit the juice...and BYE BYE TL....
