Rotate? You mean resurface the rotors? Some call it cutting the rotors or turning the rotors. Yes its a good idea to do that when installing new pads.

As long as the rotors are in spec, you do not have to turn them. If the brakes apply smoothly and nothing is wrong with them, save your money.

be careful not to get ripped off, for my 92 saturn my rotors where terrible, a shop said 30 to resurface them, i bought brand new rotors for 18 at advanced auto parts.

$18 for rotors? Wowo thats cheap. Are they mad out of plastic?

You can rotate rotors. Not resurface, rotate. The front drivers side will fit on the passenger side and the same with the rear.

I don't think it will make any difference though, as changing the pads will eliminate any uneven wear that the rotors were experiencing.

whenever you replace the brake pads the brake rotor surface must be clean of any past "material".

if there are no severe grooves present on the rotor face and your rotors are parallel (not warped) then you can lightly sand the surface with 180 grit sandpaper. clean rotor with disc brake cleaner then install the pads.

if there are grooves you should have them resurfaced before installing the pads. this will ensure proper bedding of your brake pads.

Haha I like your sig. I always thought the Impala looked like a 4th gen which had a little too much cake for dessert.
