...what size of drag tires is the best to get. I took my 96 SE to the race track last week with some 205/50-15 from BF- Goodrich and I couldn't drop my times from 14.8. I know I'm not the best driver, but the problem is that my last best 1/4 mile time was 14.9 without the ECU upgrade and the 235/45-17's on.
Any input??? I called Tire Rack they have the 225/60-15, according to them only one inch smaller than the factory size, compare to the 2 inches difference from the 205/50-15's.
Thanks for any help

What was your trapspeed?

What kind of trapspeeds were you running? Also what was your 60ft times? I think you want to get the shortest sidewall drag radial that would fit on your rims.

I don't know what trapspeeds are, but my 60' time was 2.337

HEHE, I bet your speedometer read

like 105 or somthing, and you must have had some MAD wheel gap. I run on 225/45/16 now. That is a good gear ratio for my auto. If you have a 5-speed and 15 inch rims I would recomend getting like 215/45/15 or 225/45/15 somthing like that. I dont think you need to get drag radials or sliks. I run NOS and I have been running on 225/45/17 and hook up great. You dont want to go to wide, but you want a good foot print. And also play around with the air pressure, that helps a lot too. I run mine at 28psi at the track and I get 2.20 60' with no NOS.

Yes 105 exactly....but those 225/45/17 are a little bit smaller than your factory size, are they?

well, I forget the math

You can acually figure it out by math, but I forgot it, my rims and tires were a little taller than stock(215/55/16). and a little wider. Your factory rims are only 6.5 wide, I had to keep buying used ****y tires till I found what worked best. Than I bought new ones(hehe) that sucked. Lucky has a tire store and I did not have to pay for mounting and stuff.
