is it safer to drive your Max or ride in a limo?

We went up to North Jersey to visit Tony Soprano today. j/k

We went to see the latest/greatest equipment. They sent a limo to drive us up from Philly. This thing was more appropriate for a bachelor's party rather than business meeting. The dude ran over several curbs, missed his turn and backed up, almost hitting a Benz coming in to work. You can't even see behind, how the **** are you gonna back up? Man, I like North Jersey. It's nice to see some real $$$ still exists in this world! I always like to look at the BMW/employee ratio when I go to another company, and there were tons! They gave us a powerpoint presentation and the girl pushes a button and the projection tv slides aside like Austin Powers or something!

The driver picked us up again and weaved all over the NJ pike and I-295 S. Got us back in record time though. Still, I think it's safer to drive the Max.

Being a former limo/sedan driver myself, I would say if you're using a "father and son" limo company you will not get top notch drivers or service. I worked for Boston Coach in which I drove limos, sedans and buses and they gave us training in "real" defensive driving courses like The Smith System. Most companies don't provide training to there drive except to have them ride around with a "seasoned" driver that knows how to get from here to there. I've seen a lot of crazy stuff with the "father and son" companies from a driver trying to run me off the road while he had passengers in his car to almost getting into fights with other drivers at the airports because they didn't like the company I worked for.
If you want service, you will have to pay a lot more for it unfortunately.

I always feel safer driving in almost any situation. The only situations I would want someone else to drive are those where I'm drunk, completely tired out, or dead.

[i]I worked for Boston Coach [/B]
Boston Coach is one of the big ones here in PHL. I think they use Volvo S80 and V70 (S80 wagon). A lot of drivers seem to be of the 55+ crowd. Ours was who knows what we didn't hire it, but it was a party mobile with refrig, video, leather, etc.

Back when I started with them in 1995 is when they had stretches but they got out of that line of business. Everything is regular sedan now because our clients wanted something low key. I the cars I had with them are:

95 Chrysler LHS
96 Chrysler LHS
97 Volvo V70 and S70 (Both GLT's)
98 Volvo V70 and S70 (Both GLT's)
99 97 Volvo S80

Then I left to go work with Fidelity.
