Bump Stops

What are bump stops and do I need to have them cut before installing my H&Rs on my 2k2? I've seen this asked several times in my searching but no answers.
Thanks

Bump stops keep you from bottoming your suspension, which can either blow the struts or bind (flatten) the springs. What you want to avoid is metal to metal impact. They also make the suspension more progressive by firming the bottom of the range of motion. One way to tell how much you need is to put a plastic wire tie on the strut and see how far up it pushes, then put in a bump stop a bit longer than the gap.

do you have a gxe?

For the SE the bumpstops are inside the dust boot and are made of foam. For the GXE they are part of the dustboots.

I have a GXE. I worked with the SE ones too and they are a "orange-ish" color foam that are inside the boot.

you'll just be on your bumpstops more, b/c you have you have less suspension travel because of lowering springs...

I don't know what shocks you are putting in, but when I put on my AGXs I put on KYB dust boots which had dustboots with the correct size bumpstops. Just another option.

I'm just putting H&Rs on with stock shocks. Does anyone know when those adjustable Tokies (sp?) come out?
Thanks for the help
