How reliable are these pulleys?
- Went to Los Angeles from San Francisco and back within 3 days.
- Drove high double digits to low triple digits all the way there.
- Did some top speed runs.

No problems.

Have you seen the Maxima commercial where they talk about UFO sightings?

Just curious. How necessary are these aluminum pulleys? Should one wait until his/her pulley(s) start going bad or buy as a preventative measure? Are there warning signs? Or is it just 'kaplooee' one day? Although the pulleys are still plastic, didn't I read that they have been improved? Therefore, if we bought our chargers recently, should we still be concerned? Lastly, does this happen inevitably to everyone or can it be avoided by not tightening the serp. belt so tight? Thanks, sorry for all the questions, I just want to know how seriously I need to take this 'melting pulley' thing.

The belt has to be pretty tight to avoid slippage at the charger. My belt was a little loose, not even loose. I tightend it up pretty tight and gained 2psi of boost! So to maximize the blowers effecincy the belt has to be tight and thats when the pulley will start giving you trouble. Prob in about 3000-5000 miles of use.
