Not a bad fit, had to adjust it forward a little bit under the car because the b-pipe was rubbing against the gas tank.
This was because my courtesy b with extension was not a good fit and had nothing to do with the muffler.
It has a little different tone but as expected, no noticeable gains.

With it positioned where it is the exhaust gas will melt your rear bumper cover and discolor it. It needs to be out further.

Yeh, I noticed that.... will look around for a different

tip to release the gas away from the car.

It's almost to bad you couldn't fine a 2 into 1 outlet. That way you could use the stock round location.

Looks good...don't worry about the position of the muffler under bumper that much. Lots of cars even 4th gen max's without the chrome tip sits underneath your bumper. If you have a white car..that would be a different story =)
still wondering why there are so many crickets underneath my hood...sheesh..

I put an aftermarket muffler on my last car. It caused the polyurethane get hot and wrinkle up. It was postioned at about the same spot. That's been my experience.

Doh, no gains? How disappointing. How did you get the muffler? Bought it new? Used? If bought. How much?

I like... but I would either fiberglass off where the old pipe came out (cause you're not using it), or cut it bigger to match the exhaust.

Bought used from someone here, had the pipe

chopped off of it so $100 took the prize.

I look at mods like computers.... you can't see a 5% faster computer with the human senses.... you need benchmark testing which I didn't do. How can you add a few hp and proclaim it noticeable.... Maybe some guys can but my boney butt can't.

Looks great...

I'm tempted to get one to get rid of the 'noise' problem myself...

It's kinda hard to give up a nice and shiney muffler with big tip...lol

I did put in some of that "insulator" stuff from JEGS... that padding with foil lining... I lined my trunk and the rear seat with it... I haven't had time to drive it and see if it makes a difference yet...

Muffler Tip Mods

I installed a Y2K on my 98 SE. I traced the existing cutout on the bumper cover to use as a template, looking straight at the bumper from the rear. I then cut the template vertically in half at the highest point of the arc. I measured the distance between the centers of the tips, and added the length between centers as a straight line between the two halves, to allow about 1" clearance between tip and bumper, as per factory system. I traced the resulting template to the bumper cover using a grease pencil, and cut the line with a coping or keyhole saw (very easy to cut). I then lined the edge with self adhesive door edge moulding, black, to match the SE's trim. Looks factory. I also adjusted the tip length to extend 1/2" beyond the bumper cover by using the set screw on the tip assembly. I have had no problems with heat or discoloration, despite several late summer traffic jams with extended idling. Hope this helps.
