what tire size with 18x7
what tire size with 18x7
so i am getting the enkei rs6's and they only come in 18x7 from whalentire, cheapest i found, i know i should get 18x8 but i luv these rims. What tire size should I get?
225/40/18
or
235/40/18 (If these should fit, i would prefer them becasue of the extra protection, just don't know if they are too big)

For the love of all things holy. Before this gets out of hand
I must say that the widest recomended tire width for a 7 inch rim is 225.Yes people have 235 and even 245 on 7 inch rims but there is not a tire manufacturer yet that will provide in writing that it is safe to mount a 235+ on a 7 inch rim.Just some facts for you to ponder. If you think this sounds like BS just wait until Y2kse gets a load of this.Hopefully I headed him off and he will read this and take it with a grain of salt

No tire manufacture would recommend 235/40/ZR18 on 18X7 or 18X7.5. I say you go with 225/40/ZR18. You actully have more tire choices in that size anyway. ie. Yoko Parado spec 2.
If your car is not lowered
I would not recommend you go with to low of profile, going with a 40 series will leave you with so much unsitely wheelwell. As far as your 235 issue, take the rim to a tire shop and have them measure the width, hopefully it will be a wide 7. Good luck.
Vinny. The issue is not weather they will fit or not the issue is that your insurance company or the tire company may not compensate if god forbid you were in an accident. They would tell you exactly what y2kse has been saying all along.I can here the insurance agent now "sorry sir,the manufacturer of your tires states that putting a 235+ tire on a 7" rim is unsafe.Im sorry but YOU owe Nissan 20 grand for your totaled car".Not trying to scare you or anything but its good to know the facts.

I ran 245/40/18 on 18 x 7.5" rims which Discount tires installed for over 10 yrs til one day about a year ago they said it was illegal! I was never in an unsafe situation that whole time. What happened is someone did something stupid and blamed it on Discount Tire or some tire company and won a big settlement. So now we're all screwed from that BS....I didn't want to downsize to (235/40/18) like Discount suggested, so I bought new TSW Bathurst 18 x 8 wheels and Nitto 555 G2's and motored on down the road!
