Illegal Radar Detectors ??

Hey guyz what's up - I am taking a trip from nj up to canada (toronto) , and I was wondering if at any point along the trip, I could be pulled over for possessing a radar detector in a state or (canadian) province where using one would be illegal?

Thankz in advance...

I dont THINK they're illegal, but if you're speeding, and caught- they might be stricter on you...i MAY be wrong though...

i think those things are false security. I mean, it's a "radar detector".. not a cop detector. You still would have to watch out for cops camping behind stuff.
Also, it gets really annoying when you pass by supermarkets with automatic doors

AFAIK, they are banned in Ontario. You will get it confiscated if caught with it in use. They do use radar detector detectors. I don't know if this is current though as I don't remember seeing any radar prohibition signs the last few times I crossed the border.

As Mishmosh said, radar warning devices are prohibited in Ontario. It will be confiscated and a fine will be given back to you for your troubles if you are caught. One thing I read, quite a while back, was that the police here now have the ability to detect the 'undetectable' radar detectors. There was a thread about a guy that emailed Mike Valentine after getting caught with his and Mike's reply was 'Yes, they can detect it. Our unit is VG-2 invisible, but not...' I can't remember exactly how it went, but that's the gist of it.

Also, lidar (laser) is way too popular up here. And they're getting real sneaky about it.

Cops up here are pretty good though, drive with traffic (~130 km/h on the 400 series) and you won't have any problems. Stick out of the crowd and they'll go after you.
